The Williamson County Jail is located in Georgetown Texas. Inmates that have been accused of crimes or found guilty of crimes on the county level, are housed at the Williamson County Jail. Males and females have separate housing, but both are provided with opportunities to improve their quality of life while they are in jail.
Every county jail has a responsibility to provide a safe environment for staff and inmates. In addition to preventing fights and the presence of illicit drugs, county jail staff also has a responsibility to watch for symptoms of illness, including mental illness. The medical and counseling staff can then attend to any issues that have been noticed by staff members or by inmates.
In addition to providing for inmates basic needs many county jails, including the Williamson County Jail allow inmates to access social and counseling services. These services combine to provide inmates with the opportunity to confront issues that may have lowered their quality of life, including addictions and abuse.

The mission statement of the Jackson Sheriff’s department states that they will, “protect the community by maintaining the safety, security, order, discipline and Constitutional rights of incarcerated persons in the correctional facility. ” The sheriff’s officers do arrest people when they are believed to have broken the law, but they are also there to protect the rights of individuals that are incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
The Jackson county jail generally holds around two hundred and fifty Male and female inmates, on offenses that do necessitate state or federal charges.
The inmates take care of the laundry and cooking in the facility but they are governed by civilian employees and officers that work in the jail. The main purpose of incarnating inmates at the Jackson county jail is punishment, to give them responsibility, rehabilitate them and help them to see why what they did was wrong.
By having inmates participate in running the jail, such as cooking, inmates are exposed to responsibility. They are also taught basic life skills which are required in life once they are freed from the Jackson County jail.  Around seventy employees at the Jackson county jail help to oversee the inmates and assist them in helping to run the kitchen and the laundry room.
Although the main purpose of prison is punishment, jails such as the Jackson county jail, hope to help rehabilitate inmates so that they can survive and thrive once they are released from prison. Those life skills make it less likely that the inmates will re-offend.

Columbia County has a Sheriff’s office which is struggling financially which has resulted in the county being short on the amount of officers that would be required to care for county residents. Like most Sheriff’s officers, the officers in Columbia County are there to keep the peace, prevent crime and arrest those that are accused of committing crimes. The shortage of officers has also led to fewer inmates in the Columbia County jail. The fiscal difficulties affecting the county have also affected the Columbia County Jail.
The Sheriff’s office has attempted various methods of collecting monies to help fund the sheriff’s department, as well as the Columbia county jail. For example, there are bed rentals available, which the US Marshall’s may rent. Those monies are used to help fund the jail.
The county residents are fiscally responsible for funding the operations at the Columbia county jail, as well as the sheriff’s department. The programs which are made available to inmates, in order to improve their quality of life, can be adversely affected by the amount of money made available to the jail.
Columbia county jail has relied on various methods to make up for the shortfalls in the budget, including a reliance on volunteers at the jail. For example, people may volunteer to tutor inmates in various subjects in order to prevent the necessity of utilizing paid tutors.

The Marion county jail is located in Salem, Oregon. Like most county jails, the facility has hundreds of beds in order to house inmates that have been accused or convicted of a county offense. Inmates that are found guilty on the state level, or are found guilty of serious crimes, will likely be housed in state prisons.
The Marion county jail enforces the punishments handed out by the county court system. In addition to punishment however, the county jail offers inmates a variety of services.
The Marion county jail inmates are offered medical and dental care, so that they can attend to their health needs. There is always a nursing staff available to help if an inmate should become ill or injured.
In addition, the Marion county jail offers educational services to Marion county jail inmates that wish to further their education. Regardless of the level of schooling completed before becoming an inmate, there will be classes available to suit each individual’s educational needs. If an inmate experiences difficulty in learning, they will also be offered a tutor to help them complete their studies.
The Marion County jail also offers psychological counseling to inmates so that they confront any issues that have had a negative impact on their mental health. Inmates can confront the results of their behavior, such as substance abuse, spousal abuse or anger management issues.
Over all, the Marion county jail hopes to help inmates adjust to life outside of prison once they are released, so that they will be less likely to re-offend.
   

Lane County Jail

The Lane county jail is located in Eugene Oregon. The Lane county Sheriff states that his mission is to ,” serve as the premier law enforcement and correction agency in the State of Oregon and lead Lane county’s law enforcement and criminal justice efforts.”  The Sheriff’s officers are expected to provide emergency services and investigate crimes that occur in that county. In addition, they are expected to arrest those accused of the crimes and remand them to the Lane county jail.
The Lane county jail had five hundred and seven beds. There are also one hundred and twenty two beds which are utilized in the work release programs at the Lane county jail. Some inmates do not receive jail time but are instead part of the work release program, community service or the Sheriff’s work crew. The type of offense and number of offenses will determine which program and individual is a part of.
The probation program works in concert with the Lane county jail. There are generally over three thousand individuals on probation and those that break probationary rules, often return to the Lane county jail.
Like every county jail, the main purpose of incarceration is punishment. However, there is also a focus on rehabilitation and basic life skills so that inmates are less likely to re-offend. 

Multnomah County Jail

Multnomah county jail is located in Portland Oregon and it hold inmates that have been found guilty or are facing charges in Multnomah County. Like other county jails in the united States, county jail holds inmates that have been accused or found guilty of a variety of offenses. 
The inmate may be sent to a state jail if they are facing state charges or after they have been found guilty of the charges in that county, depending on the type of offense. 
There are around seven hundred thousand residents in Multnomah County and all of them are served by the counties sheriff officers. The sheriff’s office handles 911 emergencies and makes arrests of individuals that have been found to be violating the law. 
Those that are arrested by the sheriff’s officers are then brought to the county jail for processing until they face charges and are found guilty or innocent of those charges.
The sheriff in Multnomah County is elected by popular vote and is expected to oversee all of the sheriff’s officers in the county. The duty of sheriff’s officers sometimes extends past that which is expected of local officers. 
In fact, county sheriff’s officers will handle crimes or emergencies thorough the entire county. Anyone that is arrested for those crimes is brought to the Multnomah county jail, where officers still have authority.

The Multnomah county jail is located in Portland, Oregon and handles inmates from the entire county. The county has over seven hundred thousand residents and all of those residents are the responsibility of the Multnomah county sheriff’s officers.

The Umatilla County jail is run by the Sheriff’s department in that county. The facility has over two hundred and fifty beds for inmates. The Umatilla County jail is a recently built facility that offers inmates many programs to better their quality of life.
For example, the Umatilla County jail offers inmates in- patient substance abuse programs, so that they can conquer addictions. While in treatment, inmates can address any mental health issues that may have contributed to their substance abuse problem.
Inmates are also offered the chance to confront issues such as domestic violence and anger management.  The counseling services may be offered on a one on one basis or in a group setting. 
Inmates also have access to educational programs. For example, inmates can work towards their GED if they were unable to graduate from High school. Inmates can also take classes in art, photography and writing. The goal of these educational programs is to allow inmates to work towards a goal of employment when they leave the correctional facility.
All of the services offered by the Umatilla County Jail are meant to help inmates work towards a better quality of life while they remain incarcerated and once they are released. In addition to confronting their crimes, including the punishment received for those crimes, inmates are allowed to work towards bettering themselves psychologically, physically and emotionally. Inmates that take part in the programs are much less likely to re-offend than those that do not.

Yamhill county jail is located in McMinnville, Oregon. The Yamhill County jail provides basic services for inmates such as dental care, medical care, educational programs and counseling. Like most county jails, the Yamhill county jail has a purpose of providing punishment for those that have been found guilty of crimes. However, they also have the duty to treat inmates with respect and to assist inmates in acquiring basic life skills so that they will be less likely to re-offend.
Some of the programs available at Yamhill County jail are geared towards education. For example, inmates may have a variety of classes to choose from or they may get individual attention in subjects such as reading and math. In fact, inmates can have a tutor that can assist them with any unique learning difficulties.
The Yamhill county jail also offers inmates access to counseling services. Those inmates that have drug and alcohol abuse issues have access to counseling geared toward reliving them of their addiction. In addition, the Yamhill county jail offers psychological counseling for other mental health issues that affect an inmate’s quality of life.
The Yamhill county jail provides access to many programs which can help inmates to reach educational and social goals. Often times, inmates that participate in these activities are less likely to re-offend and also less likely to return o any addictions that they may have had previous to entering the correction facility.

In Minnesota, Hennepin county jail is the largest and busiest of the Adult Detention Centers. Because it is such a large facility, there is very strict protocol regarding items, money, bail, and release of the inmates. The strict protocol is in place, in order to keep the facility functioning in an organized and streamlined fashion. For the general knowledge of the community, there is a roster that is updated throughout the day with all of the booking information, and release information of inmates of the prison.

Ramsey County Jail

Ramsey county jail is one of the smaller jailing facilities to be found in Minnesota. Here, inmates are broken up into different housing categories, putting those at a higher risk of violence or mental disturbance in a higher surveillance area, and allowing those who are not considered threats to be placed in minimum security. Inmates are allowed the basic amenities of food, water, showers, shelter, and beds.

Clay County Jail

Clay county jail is a jail centered on the individual inmates. Inmates who are deemed non-threatening can qualify for work-release or work-detail programs, in which they are allowed out of the jail to either go to work, or to do community services endeavors. A sentence to service program is offered to those who cannot do work release, this is another volunteer program. And for the rest of the inmates there are social and educational courses available.

Stearns County Jail

Stearns county jail is another jailing facility of Minnesota. This one has the capacity to detain 108 individuals; like other facilities, these cells are broken up into different housing units and are under the specifications given by the jail. There is also a separate facility and cells for individuals who require medical attention.

Nobles County Jail

Nobles county jail is run around the same basic principles as many other jails. It is a location in which inmates are detained, to keep the public safe. Within the jail, inmates are given three meals a day, have showering facilities, are allotted leisure time, and provide with beds, and the various other necessities. There are also account and phone options given to the inmates and family members, allowing them to stay in contact with one another.

Anoka county jail is a small jailing facility in Anoka County. It is meant to hold individuals for smaller durations of time; these are individuals who are waiting to be transferred to a larger, detention facility, those who are awaiting their trial date, and individuals who have been sentenced to less than a year in prison. Anoka County runs under the same standards as all other jails in Minnesota, providing the essentials for inmates, while holding them for the safety of the public.

Crow Wing County Jail

Crow Wing County jail is a jail based on the goal of changing the lives of inmates through various programs. There are parenting programs, substance abuse programs, and spiritual programs, geared towards the support and enrichment of the lives of inmates. This is a common type of management used to dissuade inmates from repeating criminal acts and ending up in jail again.
